Watching the E! network arrivals show! Love the clothes! I think this will be lots of fun!
6:00
I’m with Guiliana R. watching the E! red carpet begin.
So, here’s what I’m hoping for, this evening. Viola Davis over Meryl. This despite my really disliking “The Help.” A relic of a movie. But Viola gives a brilliant performance. Much better than Meryl’s latest adventure in funny accents.
I’d like to see Janet McTeer take Best Supporting for “Albert Nobbs.” Oh, and I wouldn’t cry id Glenn Close surprised everybody by finally getting an Oscar. Her perf is fantastic.
I’d swoon to seen Gary Oldman take Best Actor. This is very first nomination after so many great portrayals.
Under no circumstances MIchelle Williams. I want to vomit just thinking about “mY Week W Marilyn.”
OH–here is Kelly Osborne still with that weird grayish hair. Don’t get it.
Watchng Rose Burke from “Bridesmailds” Great dress!
-
Of all the colors Kelly’s hair has been, I like this one the least. I just don’t get it.
6:39 pm | February 26, 2012
Already, the typos are beginning. I’ve had so much trouble staying logged on, I’m rushing.
Another girl from “Bridesmaids” In a rust Armani. Nice. Simple. Love Armani.
Bernice Bejo (sp?) from “The Artist.” In light mint. “Like your eyes,” she just told Ryan Seacrest. Like his eyes?
-
-
Not shy. I’ve just been knocked off twice and lost many comments. I see this will a trial.
6:23 pm | February 26, 2012
-
Melissa McCarthy. I don’t want to be cruel. Please somebody do it for mr?
-
Ok I will be cruel for you Mr. Wow she looks like a house and should never wear a belt so high on her waist
6:29 pm | February 26, 2012 -
Kelly Osbourne raving over Melissa. Won’t find any cruelty there.
Jessica Chastain. Like the dress. Hate the hair. Well, hate is too strong. But she does need more bling on the ears.
Michelle Williams just arrived. In red. This girl should not wear red. Or play Marilyn Monroe. Or be nominated for that travesty.
Otherwise, I accept her being there.
-
Am I alone in liking Kelly Osbourne’s gray/purple hair? It caught me off guard at first, but the more I see it the more it grows on me. It’s different and I kinda think she pulls it off.
6:34 pm | February 26, 2012-
Dear Jon…
You are alone. But that’s cool. I’m alone in thinking Meryl doesn’t deserve the Oscar.
6:39 pm | February 26, 2012-
-
Mr Wow you are not alone in thinking Meryl doesn’t deserve an oscar this year. You seen one accent you have seen them all!
6:45 pm | February 26, 2012 -
🙂 On Meryl, we agree. She’s brilliant and all, but not everything she does warrants a nomination.
7:26 pm | February 26, 2012

-
Is Stacey Keibler just a little obvious?? She looks like and “Oscar” in her gold dress!
I think Guiliana looks gorgeous! And here is Viola Davis without her wig!! Go Viola! You are wonderful.
Viola Davis is stunning in green and her natural hair. Not sure about the earrings.
Virginia Madsen! Glad she’s still on the Oscar guest list. That career should have been hotter.
Sean Combs being brushed down.
P.Diddy, getting fluffed and buffed as he gets out of the car! Why??
-
-
Uhhhh…no. Who? I mean aside from–well, I promised not to be cruel to her.
6:51 pm | February 26, 2012 -
-
Also why most of these women haven’t eaten so much as a pea in weeks!
6:53 pm | February 26, 2012
-
Just saw the Artist this afternoon and I do not want it to win best Picture. I liked it but I LOVED Hugo.
Love Viola from head to knees. Then the dress goes off the reservation a bit. But the color is fantastic!
-
Octavia isnt as heavy as Melissa but she does heavy well in this dress
6:59 pm | February 26, 2012
Michelle Williams…she “filled in” the role of Marilyn?! Has she seen the movie?
Her dress is nice for a teen prom.
Rooney Mara, hideous in white.
Octavia Spencer knows how to dress her body type! She looks lovely!
Considering all that Octavia has already won, I think she has a speech pretty much down. Sweet lady.
But I am still rooting for Ms.McTeer.
Johan Hill is re-gaining.
Why do fat people always wear strapless. Don’t they see how bad they look from the back with fat hanging over the dress? Ugh. Every wedding I attend has a bride stuffed into a strapless gown that looks horrible from the back.
I liked this show better when everyone did not have stylists and some people had on crazy outfits. Always made it interesting.
Jonah was fantastic in Moneyball…
Octavia is elegant and hitting just the right tone.
Jean Dujardin…I’ve met him. Much hotter in person. And very nice. I love Frenchmen.
I have relatives who are nuns. NO ONE wears the old nun costume any more. That looks ridiculous. I know she was a former star who lives in a convent but REALLY? Nuns have not dressed like that for years.
-
She is actually a cloistered nun. Part of their vows is to always wear a habit. They are not “out in the world” very often. I missed her entrance. I do know that her order is trying to save their convent from falling down or being condemned.

Except for that drapy thing over one breast. And bigger earrings. I’m just a dangling earring kinda guy.
7:19 pm | February 26, 2012
ABC Red Carpet underway…
Mila Jovavich with Tim Gunn. I guess one-shoulder is a big trend tonight. And Mila looks good, too.
TO ALL:
Technical Difficulties… Mr. WOW is unable to log on.
Please forgive us (if it gets fixed, he’ll be back).
And continue on… Please!
-
Thanks Joni! So disappointed; Mr. WoW is so great. Hope the glitch is fixed.
7:54 pm | February 26, 2012 -
Penelope Cruz with Tim Gunn on ABC. She looks lovely. Not too sure about her hair.
Tina Fey looks wonderful in the gorgeous Carolina Herrera dress! Stunning. Gweneth Paltrow, WOW!
I don’t like Glenn Close’ outfit. Take off the jacket. I have not seen Meryl Streep yet but I have never seen her in a dress that did not look like she had raided Grandma’s closet.
Gwyneth Paltrow…now that looks pretty great! Even I, Mr. More Bling, think her bare ears and neck are divine. She’s come a long way from the atrocity she wore when she won the Oscar.
Glenn Close–conditioner, darling.
Not happy with the way Robin Roberts’ beautiful white sequined dress tucks in behind her (if you know what I mean).
SO glad we are soon to go inside.
-
Joni…we know what you mean. You are such a lady. Let’s send Robin a discreet note tomorrow.
Dear Robin–about your ass…
8:23 pm | February 26, 2012 -
Amen, ABC’s coverage is just so awkward. Lets get on with the show!
8:25 pm | February 26, 2012
I am really enjoying this, it beats having a bunch of people over to watch. You have to feed them. lol
-
Please, no food talk. I’m still thinking about Miss Lopez and her bagel-head.
8:24 pm | February 26, 2012 -
Ooooohh. Just saw an ad for Ashley Judd’s new series. Looks like typical (and highly enjoyable) Ashley antics–angry, take no shit woman on a mission.
She’s the best of the Judds.
-
THere was a shot of her in the audience–dress looked gold and glittery to me.
8:43 pm | February 26, 2012-
As they cut to commercial; there was Meryl walking in a beautiful gold dress.
8:49 pm | February 26, 2012
-
Tom Hanks…liking the scruff. Tho it hardly makes up for his disgraceful win for “Forrest Gump.”
Wow! I’m growing my hair out! Loved that guy’s white mane.
Francesca–very hot, my dear.
Mr. Wow,
Billy Crystal just did my joke: there’s nothing more enjoyable than watching a group of white millionaires give each other awards. (I said that to you a short while ago.)
Daniel
See what I get? –the first damn film tribute clip is from “Forrest Gump.”
-
At least she isn’t pulled so tight that her eyes are neatly placed, one on each side of her head!
9:13 pm | February 26, 2012 -
In the past, they usually give the Best Supporting Actress first. Get the blood going right away. Maybe this approach is better? Boring first half hour?
Okay, here we go. Wonderful suit on Mr. Bale.
Octavia. Very sweet. Still don’t care for “The Help.” Rooting for Viola, though Meryl’s big gold dress-up is touching. At least if Meryl wins, it might nix any future nominations. And Miss Davis can possibly go on to be brilliant in a contemporary role.
Paltrow and Downey…that was amusing. What about that giant diamond cuff she’s wearing!
Speaking of which, I hope they have something special planned for Miss Taylor.
-
That was a good bit. Wish the dress was more attractive. Although its dorky quality worked for what she was doing.
10:06 pm | February 26, 2012
Nice for Plummer. I had a big crush on him in “The Sound of Music.” He was so…severe.
-
No matter how ravaged he looks now, I prefer to remember him in Rich Man, Poor Man.
10:25 pm | February 26, 2012-
-
If only Barbra had stuck to directing and not co-starring in that one.
10:29 pm | February 26, 2012 -
-
“Lowenstein, Lowenstein, I say it like a prayer”. Oh yes the Prince of Tides, he was magic.
Sorry Mr. WoW, I think Barbra was perfect in Prince of Tides. It was a great cast all the way through.10:33 pm | February 26, 2012

-
Angelina…please, please, please…even a little fruit or oatmeal. Just get something in your stomach.
We can negotiate a cheeseburger later, when you can lift your arms without strain.
Woody Allen finally won… not that he cares. I did enjoy Midnight in Paris.
-
I really enjoyed Midnight in Paris. I have watched it 3 times, so far.
10:35 pm | February 26, 2012-
-
Exactly! I think Owen Wilson was terrific and that was a pleasant surprise!
10:55 pm | February 26, 2012
-
-
-
I think I’d prefer three hours of Ellen DeGeneres commercials. Not that this is so bad.
-
I think the real problem is Hollywood is just not making many films and most are the action and remakes that make money overseas. Just not a lot to get excited about.
10:52 pm | February 26, 2012 -
-
Where are the drunks, sluts and political loons when you need them?
11:10 pm | February 26, 2012 -
-
Michael Douglas…wow, quite the recovery! I recall going to the preem of “Wall Street 2” and everybody assuming he’d be dead within a few months. Needless to say, it was one of the most packed and frantic and ghoulish events ever.
And you know…that wink is the worst part of “Cleopatra.”
Oh, well. They gave her the finale.
-
-
I watch “The Actor’s Studio” to listen to actors talking about making movies.
11:41 pm | February 26, 2012
-
Did not really see that coming– Jean Dujardin. Charming performance. Period.
-
I don’t think many saw that coming. George didn’t look too happy. Angelina didn’t look too happy. I suspect Brad didn’t care. He has fun. What else is there?
9:53 am | February 27, 2012
Okay, Meryl…you got it. God bless. Get drunk.
Academy, you’re on notice. No more nominations for this woman.
-
I suspect you will see her again. And again. And again. And why not?
10:01 am | February 27, 2012
TOM!!!!!!!!!
You are still my Top Gun, honey. We never have to talk about religion. Or anything.
I adored Colin Firth in Mamma Mia — so delicious! Also in The King’s Speech. I think he’d make a good Bond.
My niece texted to ask “Who is Billy Crystal?” I’ll be laughing about that all night. Reminds me of how my Mom used to say how much she loved Arthur Godfrey and I’d go “Arthur who?” The march of time is relentless. At least I know who Bieber is.
Bravo to Meryl. Her performance was spot on even if the script was a bit much. I have great admiration for the real Mrs. Thatcher.
OK “The Artist” won all the big ones but not the sweep that was predicted. Not a bad way to spend an evening. Thanks to all of you!
It’s over. Not bad. Except for my concerns for Miss Jolie. Those arms and that knee will haunt me for some time.
Thanks to you stayed with me through my technical problems and thanks to Joni, Sylvia, Hilary and Emily, who talked me down from my high anxiety when things weren”t working. And for fixing it, too!
Love,
Mr. W.
-
I actually watched most of it. I think someone should explain to Angelina that bony knees don’t go well with slit gowns. Or at least suggest she keep the leg in instead of out.
I never really watch so maybe they do this each year now but I remember when the Governors Awards, although I remember when it was just the Jean Hersholtz award, were presented during the Oscar presentation. So Oprah was allowed to stand and be acknowledged the way Lauren Bacall was. Not that I like Oprah. But I thought it was insulting. the way I thought it was insulting with Lauren Bacall. And I would have preferred they honored Doris Day. I suspect they never will. Apart from a little blip during the Memorium. And I also would have preferred Martha screeching over Cleo winking. But, well, who are we to say?
I missed your blogging. I forgot. A friend who used to cover it live was blogging. Via Facebook. So I didn’t get up during commercials. And then went to bed. Hopefully in a day or two all the “news feed” will be gone.
10:21 am | February 27, 2012
Lots of fun and congratulations to everyone; nominees and winners! This was a lovely evening!
Mr. Wow,
I’ve tried numerous times to read the article – it isn’t here – what comes up are the comments and a picture of Oscar – nothing else. What am I doing wrong?
Let the games begin…
